UPDATE: After discussions with comScore, it appears that the comScore data we cite below may be unreliable and it includes a different approach to Zillow’s measurement than other sites. For a detailed discussion, please refer to this Inman post. If this sounds confusing to you, trust us — it is to us too. We will certainly think twice about publishing comScore data moving forward.

Whew… what a week! In addition to our significant expansion into the rentals market, we received some news that’s inciting cheers and popping champagne corks around Zillow.
In less than four years since our launch, Zillow now sits near the top of the pile of real estate Web sites, according to the top two external audience measurement services! More specifically:
- comScore Media Metrix shows Zillow.com as the most-trafficked real estate domain for the month of November (measured by unique visitors)
- Hitwise placed Zillow as the second-largest real estate domain in November (measured by market share)
Meanwhile our internal tracking shows unique users visiting Zillow.com have grown 60% over last year, to an average of 8.3 million visitors each month in 2009.
Here is comScore’s November data for the five largest real estate domains, by Unique Users and Reach:
And here’s a Hitwise chart on Zillow market share growth over the past two years. You can find the full November Hitwise real estate report here (PDF):
