Today, we’re excited to announce that Zillow has teamed up with leading home builders including Beazer and Pulte to help home shoppers find new construction homes more easily.
Previously on Zillow, a single home icon on our maps indicated a planned community — which could represent hundreds of homes and floor plans. Now, our maps have been updated to show the entire outline of planned communities (see image below). This improvement will help buyers discover new construction homes more easily and provide additional for-sale options within a given area.
By clicking into these highly-visible communities, a buyer then sees the entire inventory of individual homes for sale within the community. Shoppers can visit individual home details pages to get information and photos specific to each home style, they can walk through interactive floor plans, and watch videos that showcase all of the amenities a given community has to offer.
For builders, this is a tremendous opportunity to get their new homes in front of Zillow’s 22 million monthly unique users on both the Web and mobile devices (i).
What’s more, new homes will now receive greater exposure to home shoppers of all kinds, not just those predisposed to new construction. Builders know that new construction has a terrific value story to tell, especially given that 24 percent of all sales in April were foreclosure re-sales, which often require greater maintenance. Zillow’s new construction focus helps builders communicate that story much more effectively by enabling shoppers to more easily find new homes, and by allowing builders to highlight new homes and planned communities features.
