Zillow is committed to supporting our nonprofit partners who are working to bridge the opportunity gap in K-12 education.
We are honored to partner with the Technology Access Foundation (TAF) and the TAF Teacher Institute in empowering educators across the state with training to create learning environments that eliminate race-based disparities and promote academic excellence so that all students can succeed.
In August 2019, Zillow hosted TAF teachers at our Seattle headquarters for a day full of learning and discussion on ways we can prepare students of all ages for work in the tech industry. More than 100 teachers received input from Zillow employees on the STEM projects their students will take on for the school year. While teachers’ projects differed by grade level and course (art, social studies, robotics, etc.), all had a STEM lens.
Zillow employee volunteers offered face-to-face consulting so teachers could hear how their projects could be made most relevant to modern day jobs and support career-connected learning.
We wrapped up the afternoon with a fun pitch party, where teachers pitched their project ideas in small groups. We were also thrilled to send them off with 60 donated laptops for the upcoming school year!
