This weekend Zillow is showing its startup roots by hosting Startup Weekend Seattle, a pre-qualifying event for Global Startup Battle, the world’s largest startup competition. This weekend (and last), more than 1,300 teams in 130 cities around the world will build a company from concept to launch in 54 hours. The reigning battle in Seattle teams will compete head-to-head in a climatic best-of-the-best brawl at Global Startup Battle.
Startup Weekend Seattle is one of the city’s largest to date with more than 120 designers, developers, and business and marketing professionals. In addition to collaborating with fellow entrepreneurs, participants will have access to world-class mentors to challenge and advise them along the way. The event kicks off Friday night with Zillow’s CEO Spencer Rascoff (@spencerrascoff) sharing his personal journey as an entrepreneur. On Sunday night, teams will present their ideas to a star-studded panel of judges, including:
- David Beitel, CTO, Zillow
- James T. Carroll, associate, Perkins Coie
- Brier Dudley, technology reporter, The Seattle Times
- Julie Sandler, senior associate, Madrona Venture Group
- Dr. Nadia Shouraboura, founder and CEO, Hointer
- Brenda Spoonemore, co-founder and CEO, Dwellable
