Although Zillow offers information and data on more than 100 million U.S. homes, we call Seattle our home where we are located steps from Pike Place Market. So, it made sense for the latest Zillow guest speaker to be someone closely tied to the success of the Emerald City.
Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn stopped by Zillow offices last week as part of the ongoing Zillow Speaker Series. He gave a lunchtime talk, followed by a Q&A with Zillow employees. Topics ranged from innovation in the city, attracting innovative people, education, and infrastructure.
McGinn was elected mayor in 2009 as a political outsider. The former lawyer and founder of non-profit advocacy group Seattle Great City Initiative ran on a platform focused on education, broadband Internet access and local transportation infrastructure.
Speaking to Zillow, he emphasized Seattle continuing to compete in a global economy.
“We need to support innovation across the city and attract innovative people,” McGinn said.
